Music i̶m̶Possible
captioned vinyl covers without the actual vinyl discs
with contributions from Alexis Bacon, Gaia Martino, hany tea, Kandis Friesen, M.D., MINQ, RC Taube, Rory Mason, Saverio Cantoni, Terry Perdanawati.
Music 𝗂̶𝗆̶Possible exhibits music that is (almost) impossible to create or happen in the external world, but possible within the realm of imagination through captioning.
This work was created by 10 people from diverse bodymind characteristics and professional backgrounds, who participated in one of the assignments in the “Text as Medium for Aural Communication” workshop hosted by Berlin-based Refuge Worldwide.
This project aims to demonstrate that imagined music is as real as the acoustical world, (re)centering music within the bodymind. The captioning activity also highlights the accessibility of artistry, challenging the idea of needing perfect instrumental and artistic skills in music-making. The captioned vinyl cover without the actual vinyl disc illustrates this point: music can exist without the physical sound.
