Gunung Singgalang

“Gunung Singgalang” is inspired by Singgalang, a type of traditional music performed by one or two vocalists accompanied by a saluang player and originated around Mount Singgalang, West Sumatera, Indonesia. Persistent rhythm and narrowness of the melody, the uniqueness of Singgalang, are two aspects mainly explored in the piece.
